EVO has been in the fitness equipment industry since 1984. They are built by a more familiar company, Smooth Fitness. Smooth Fitness is a pretty popular fitness distributor, but has been sitting on the side lines for a while. They actually produce pretty decent treadmills with some creative technology, such as the feature that changes the speed of the treadmill by simply waving your hand in front of the sensors.

This company was the first to sell their products online, which gave them quite the head start in the industry, however, now companies such as, Icon Fitness, have caught back up and even passed Smooth Fitness. They have been selling their products online for about 16 years now, and still maintain popularity on the world wide web.

EVO seems to be an honest and respectable brand. They get great feedback from customers and have received several top ratings from Prevention Magazine, Epinions, About.com. Their company strives to build innovative, functional, and durable machinery. They want the customers to focus on getting in shape rather than fixing the exercise equipment. They build quality in each and every treadmill.

Some customers have complained about the prices. They are quite a bit more expensive than Smooth treadmills. For being such an old model, there are still treadmills that are priced above $3000.00. It is a bit risky to buy an EVO treadmill now that the manufacturer is no longer producing them. You may have a hard time finding the parts in case you need to replace them.

The EVO treadmills are unique in that they have the Motion Control and they have decent features for their price. However, the last treadmill they made was around 2007, which means there are treadmills out there that are passing up the technology of EVO treadmills. It is getting more difficult for EVO treadmills to compete with the newer technology. I would suggest buying a different model of treadmill, unless you find a great deal on an EVO and you’re not worried about replacing parts.
