Treadmill measurements before installation

I need to purchase a new treadmill. However the equipment will be in my basement and there is no walk-out entry there. The only way to get it down there is via the L-shaped stairs from the main floor.

Is there some pre-installation measurement that I can use to determine sizing so I don't purchase a unit that I then won't be able to get down the stairs?

Most manufacturers provide an overview of measurement specs on each treadmill. It's often at the bottom of the page that provides information on the treadmill. That would be a good place to start when considering if you have enough room in your space.
