The Peloton Tread is quieter than other treadmills in this price range. However, any treadmill creates a bit of foot noise. If you place your treadmill on carpet or a rubber mat it can help reduce the overall noise output. But treadmills tend to generate more noise than comparable equipment such as bikes, rowers, and ellipticals.

How shakey is the peloton tread screen when nearing top speeds? Is it totally unbearable?

To be honest, you don't really notice. Because you are running and moving, the bounce of the screen isn't overly distracting. In fact, I notice it much more when I'm off the treadmill watching someone else run, than when I'm on it running myself. I wouldn't rule the Tread out due to that issue.

What makes the Peloton Tread better than other treadmills?

I wouldn't say the Peloton Tread is better than other treadmills. There are some things that I really like about the Peloton Tread but other things that I don't like. One thing, for me, is that it shakes a ton when I run at any speed over 8 MPH, that's pretty frustrating. It's a good machine, it's quiet and the foot noise is minimal and it performs and functions well but I would still pick the NordicTrack X22i or AssaultRunner Elite over it. As we all know, Peloton really excels with their digital content and that's where the main benefit of Peloton lies.
