Best Treadmills Under $1000 – Our Experts’ Top Picks
These treadmills maximize your value and your features for the lowest price. We’ve included something for every walker and runner on this list. Check out which machines our experts loved.
Horizon 7.0 AT Treadmill
- Great price
- 20″ x 60″ running surface
- Folding deck
- Responsive and quiet motor
- No subscription required
- Bluetooth and Apple Gym Ki
- We don’t recommend it for heavy use.
- The speakers and the fan are pretty weak.
The Horizon 7.0 AT is very budget-friendly. When determining a treadmill that can handle most people running on it, we look at the motor and deck size. The 7.0 AT has a 3.0 CHP motor, best for running light to moderate amounts. Plus, what we love most is that the motor is quiet and quick to adjust. This one is a top option if you want to do interval training.
If you want the Peloton experience at a lower price, the Horizon 7.0 AT is one of our favorite budget alternatives. The QuickDial controls make it easy to scroll through the speed and incline settings to keep up with your trainer’s suggestions. Kaleigh is also a big fan of using this treadmill with Zwift thanks to the treadmill’s FTMS compatibility.
The deck is 20″ wide and 60″ long, which is ideal for running. 60″ is accommodating for pretty much all running stride lengths. The deck is also compact enough not to take up too much unnecessary space in your home.
Another factor that makes the Horizon 7.0 AT Treadmill forgiving on the wallet is that it doesn’t require a subscription to use. Instead, it comes with onboard workouts to give you different training options, and there is a device rack on the console to hold your phone or tablet for streaming whatever you want. You can connect fitness trackers, including Apple watches and the Samsung Galaxy watch.
With a 15% incline and 12 mph max speed, most people will have plenty of training variables with the 7.0 AT. The deck cushioning is also forgiving to help lessen the impact on your joints that comes with running. For an excellent all-around treadmill for personal use and the best overall treadmill under $1000, look no further than the Horizon 7.0 AT.

NordicTrack T Series 6.5 S Treadmill
- Great budget option for light running
- Compatible with iFIT classes
- Flexselect soft cushioning
- Tablet rack
- 10% incline and 10 mph maximum speed
- 300-lb weight capacity
- No built-in touchscreen
- 55″ long deck
I love that the NordicTrack T 6.5 S makes training with iFIT entirely optional and includes many of the same features you can get on much more expensive NordicTrack treadmills. It also includes onboard training programs. The tablet rack gives you a place to set your device while streaming iFIT, but you can also watch whatever you want.
One of the biggest downsides to the pricier NordicTrack treadmills with touchscreen displays is feeling like you are locked into iFIT. We love that the T 6.5 S does not give you this same feeling. It allows you to test out iFIT if you desire but gives you other options, too.
The T 6.5S is not the best treadmill for heavy-duty running, but it’s just fine for light running and intense walking. The running deck is only 55 inches long. NordicTrack very reasonably limits the maximum speed to 10 mph. The 10% incline adds even more training variability.
If you aren’t familiar with iFIT, let me brief you on what you’re in store for (if you choose to subscribe). iFIT has thousands of training classes led by professional trainers in global locations. You pair your device to the T 6.5S for automatic speed and incline adjustments with any of the classes.
Unlike other NordicTrack treadmills, I actually recommend the T 6.5S to runners and walkers whether or not they are going to subscribe to iFIT. It’s a treadmill that makes perfect sense at its price.

Horizon T101 Treadmill
- The Horizon T101 is a great walking treadmill for an affordable price.
- The 2.5 CHP motor is quiet and great for light to moderate amounts of walking and light jogging.
- The deck has 3-zone cushioning and folds up to save space.
- A lifetime frame and motor warranty back the high-quality construction.
- The console has a limited amount of tech features.
- Wireless heart rate tracking isn’t available on the console.
If walking on a treadmill is your goal, check out the Horizon T101. At well under $1000, this treadmill is a steal and the best treadmill under $1000 for walking. What makes this treadmill one of our favorites is the quality for the price. The T101 is sturdy and solid despite being so friendly on the wallet.
What makes the Horizon T101 best for walking is the 2.5 CHP motor and 20″ x 55″ deck. The motor is quiet and quick to adjust, but this size is best for light to moderate use. The 55″ long deck is best for most walking strides and slower jogging paces. If you have a short stride, you’ll probably be able to run occasionally on the deck, too.
If you primarily train outside, the T101 might be a good option for a very occasional indoor run. We recommend sticking to an easy pace to keep your stride shorter. While the T101 is well-built for its price and size, we don’t like how much it shakes when you run hard at an incline. While the treadmill has held up for us under this type of use, we prefer to walk on it.
Another feature of the deck that we like is the cushioning. It offers decent shock absorption while still being compact and foldable. The 3-zone cushioning softens your impact and provides a firm push-off zone.
The Horizon T101 has less tech than other models, which is great if you’re looking for a straightforward, hop-on-and-go treadmill. The console features 3 LED Windows to display your workout metrics. Plus, there are six different workout modes for structured training. There is also a device rack to place your phone or tablet to stream whatever you want.
For a versatile, compact, lightweight walking treadmill, we recommend the Horizon T101.

WalkingPad R2 2-in-1
- This treadmill is compact, foldable, and can be stored upright or under a bed.
- The handles fold up and down to use under a desk or independently.
- Under a desk, the belt moves up to 3.7 mph; on its own, it goes up to 7.5 mph.
- The handle adjusts depending on your height.
- The belt might need to be bigger for some people to jog and run on.
- The wheels are too small to wheel over a thick carpet or mat.
The WalkingPad R2 2-in-1 Treadmill is very versatile and very compact. If you’re looking for the best compact treadmill under $1000, the R2 is it. With a length of only 57″ and a deck that folds in half, this treadmill is small but great for walking and even some light jogging.
Whether you’re looking for a treadmill to use in the middle of a room or under a desk, the WalkingPad R2 can do both. It is unique and compact because the handle folds up and down. It folds down on either side of the deck so you can roll the R2 under your standing desk, and it folds up so you can use the rail for balance while walking and jogging on the deck.
When you’re done using the R2, you can collapse the handle and fold the deck in half to store it under a bed or couch or store it upright to push it against a wall or in a closet out of the way. So, if you’re looking for a compact treadmill that is very storable to use on an upper-level floor, this one is a great pick.
Its deck is only 17″ wide and 47″ long, so it’s suitable for all walking strides. The belt moves up to 7.5 mph when the handle is upright, so you can jog on it if you have a shorter stride length. The speed is reasonably capped at 7.5 mph, and we didn’t want it to go any faster, given its compact deck size.
We were really surprised at the R2’s performance during longer runs. We’ve logged runs of over an hour on the R2 without issue. You have to be more mindful of your stride length so you don’t miss the deck, but you get used to it pretty quickly. We recommend most users stick to shorter, slower runs, but it’s good to know faster, longer runs are an option.

- The console features side handles for more balance assistance.
- There is a device rack to stream from your device.

The uprights and console fold down onto the deck, making the Interactive Slim Treadmill easy to store.
We recommend this Sunny Health & Fitness treadmill for walking and light jogging. Its brushless motor has a 2.0 HP peak and a maximum speed of 9 mph, so you’ll have many training options. The deck is 17.3″ wide and 47″ long, so it doesn’t take up much space and is best for all walking strides. If you have a shorter jogging/running stride, you’ll probably be able to jog and lightly run on it, too.
Not only is this treadmill only around 85 lbs to use on an upper-level floor, but it is an excellent deal at well under $1000. The side handles on the console give you more surface area to hold on to when you need it, which is appreciated for a treadmill of such small stature.
This treadmill could be a good option for college students living in a dorm or those living in an apartment with roommates. Anyone who doesn’t have a lot of space or the budget for a larger machine will like what the Sunny Interactive Slim has to offer.

Amazon is a place where you can buy all kinds of things, including treadmills! The Schwinn Fitness 810 Treadmill is our pick for the treadmill on Amazon. It is under $1000 on this list of best treadmills under $1000. For its price, the 810 comes with some nice features.
The 10 mph max speed and 20″ x 55″ deck are great for walking and jogging. If you have a longer stride, you might not be able to use the treadmill at its highest speed, but most should have plenty of room for walking and jogging. The 1.9 HP motor is also suitable for lighter use, which we recommend for most budget treadmills.

- The console is simple, with an LCD screen and onboard workout programs to follow along with.
- The 2.25 HP motor goes up to 10 mph, and the deck manually inclines three levels.
- The steel frame comes with a lifetime warranty.
- It isn’t best for long-distance use.
- Users with long running strides might be unable to jog and run on the deck.
Of course, this list is already filled with budget treadmills, but the Xterra TR150 is available at an especially low price. That’s why we’ve named it the best budget treadmill under $1000. The TR150 has a lot of features that are worth the price.
The Xterra TR150 weighs close to 100 lbs and goes up to 10 miles per hour. It has three levels of incline that you can manually change to add variety to your walks and jogs. The deck is 16″ wide and 50″ long, so it’s great for all walking strides, and some will be able to lightly jog on it as well. The console has onboard workouts and a folding deck to appeal to most home users. Urevo 2-in-1 Treadmill
- Very affordable price
- Quiet motor and performance
- Lightweight and portable
- Walk and run modes
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Nice construction for the price point
- Small running surface
- Narrow footrails
The Urevo 2-in-1 Treadmill is a knockout for its under $300 price point. It’s an awesome deal that supports under-desk training, fitness walking, and light jogging. It’s not the ideal running treadmill, but it’s our favorite option for runners on such a strict budget and low on space. It has only a 2.25 HP motor and a 15” x 40” running surface.
One of the most irritating things about 2-in-1 and under-desk treadmills is the constant beeping. I’ve tested so many models that don’t allow you to shut this feature off. Fortunately, the Urevo 2-in-1 treadmill has a button to silence the beeps. The motor is also very quiet, so you can train without disturbing your coworkers or other members of your household.
The console folds down to put the treadmill in walk mode. In this mode, the speed range is 0 to 4 mph. When the console is upright, the treadmill reaches a max speed of 6.2 mph. This speed limit is appropriate for the smaller deck. Many runners won’t even be able to go that fast due to the short length of the deck. Runners with long strides should be cautious of faster speeds.
I was very impressed with the Urevo 2-in-1 treadmill. It stood out from the other 2-in-1 treadmills we have tested in terms of quality and performance.

Sole F63 Treadmill
- This high-quality treadmill performs like higher-end models, but it’s available for an affordable price.
- The 3.0 HP motor is great for moderate running with 15 levels of incline.
- The console is simple and doesn’t require a subscription to use.
- A lifetime frame and motor warranty back the construction.
- This model isn’t best for long-distance training.
- The fan isn’t very powerful.
To round out our list of the best treadmills under $1000, we have the Sole F63. Although it’s technically priced at just over $1000, the F63 is worth it. This treadmill has a nice running deck, a 3.0 HP motor, and a lifetime frame and motor warranty. It costs slightly over $1000, but it might be worth the budget stretch.
The Sole F63 is Sole’s most affordable model. Its 20″ x 60″ running surface is compact yet accommodating for all running strides. The 3.0 HP motor is quiet, especially when adjusting the 15 incline levels. The cushioning is firm but provides shock absorption for the joints. The F63 is great for moderate use, specifically for road runners who like a firmer running surface.
The F63 performs similarly to higher-end models. The console is pretty simple, with less tech and features than others, but it’s easy to use and doesn’t require a subscription. There are onboard workouts and the ability to play music from your phone through the speakers while you work out.
When you’re finished with the Sole F63, you can fold up the deck and push it against the wall with its four transportation wheels out of the way. It uses a kick-release mechanism for unfolding and will softly lower to the ground once released when it’s time to train again.
If you have the ability to stretch your budget, this is one treadmill we recommend.

What to Consider when Buying a Treadmill Under $1000
Here are a few things to remember when searching for the best treadmill under $1000.
Size
Treadmills come in different sizes. First and foremost, you want to ensure that whichever treadmill you choose fits where you will use it. You don’t want to buy a treadmill and then unbox it only to discover it doesn’t fit in your space. Also, some treadmills weigh hundreds of pounds and aren’t appropriate to use on an upper-level floor.
Not only do you need to make sure you have enough floor space to use the treadmill, but you also need to make sure you have a tall enough ceiling. Many larger treadmills incline, so it’s important to factor in the incline height, your height, and the height of your ceiling to make sure you have enough head clearance to walk and run.
Level Of Use
Another aspect to consider is what you want to use the treadmill for. Treadmills are built for different purposes. Some are meant for running, while others are meant for walking at your desk. You want to make sure that the treadmill’s specs align with your goals and how much/how long you’re going to use it.
Checking the treadmill and motor size will help determine what it can be used for. For example, we recommend at least a 60″ long deck for most stride lengths. 55″ is better for most for walking and jogging, while those with shorter running strides might be able to run, too. Decks 50″ or shorter are typically best for walking, though some users might be able to run.
Regarding our recommendations for motor sizes, 3.0 HP is usually the smallest motor size we recommend for running. Smaller motors of 2-3 HP are best for walking and jogging. Usually, larger motors of 3.5-4.0 HP are what we recommend for long-distance training.
Content
Finally, the content may not seem important, but it can influence how much you use a treadmill. Are you someone who likes to zone out while you walk? Do you want to follow along with a trainer? Different treadmills come with different consoles and content options.
Some include touch screens with subscription content that requires a monthly fee to access. Other treadmills have LCD screens, simple consoles with onboard workouts, and a place to put your device or book to keep you entertained. You’ll want to look into what the treadmill you’re interested in has to offer before buying.
Features
In addition to content, you should also consider the other treadmill features. If you want to connect to third-party apps, check to see if the treadmill is FTMS compatible and has Bluetooth. Does it connect with heart rate monitors? If yes, what kind (ANT+, Bluetooth, 5Hz, etc.)?
I also like to look for good storage on a treadmill. Some machines have a place to store a water bottle, while others do not. If you plan on using the treadmill for longer runs or walks, you might need more items readily on hand.
Other features you may like on your treadmill include a built-in fan and speakers. However, you should investigate whether the fan and speakers are actually effective. Often, budget treadmills have speakers and fans that are too weak to make a difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
