Why You Should Trust Us

Our team works hard to test every treadmill we come across to give you the best idea of what it offers. But we don’t stop training just because we need to write a review. With LifeSpan, we can do both at the same time. We are fitness enthusiasts constantly challenging each other to complete new fitness challenges, like walking more at our under-desk treadmills.

We use equipment just like you would, in addition to the more rigorous quality tests we do. If there are any compatible apps or built-in programs, we test those out, too! We aren’t only testing LifeSpan under-desk treadmills. We use multiple brands to see how they compare.

Editors Note, 10/30/2024: LifeSpan no longer makes fitness treadmills and has decided to focus on under-desk treadmills. Our new brand overview of LifeSpan reflects their latest offerings.

The LifeSpan TR5000 is the perfect under-desk treadmill if you have lofty goals. LifeSpan conveniently rates each of their treadmills for daily recommended use. The TR5000 is the best, supporting up to nine hours of use! It works great if you want to walk all day or share the TR5000 in an office!

One thing that sets LifeSpan treadmills apart from competitors is the size of their treadmills. The TR5000 is spacious with a 20” x 50” walking surface. It has a high-quality steel frame covered by a 10-year warranty. While we love the durability, the treadmill is over 100 lbs and can be difficult to move.

The TR5000 works with two console options. I like that they sit on top of your desk, taking up minimal space. It is convenient and practical for my training.

The LifeSpan TR1200 Under-Desk Treadmill is a more affordable alternative to the LifeSpan TR5000 and supports up to six hours of use per day—more than enough for most users.

The LifeSpan TR1200 Under-Desk Treadmill supports up to six hours of training per day. While that’s not quite as much as the TR5000, it should be sufficient for most users. If you walk more than six hours daily on your under-desk treadmill—call me impressed!

The deck is 20” x 50” and has independent compression shocks for cushioning. Its thickness is ¾” of an inch. The side rails are made of non-slip plastic. The belt is also very textured, so you don’t have to worry about slipping. The design of the TR1200 is very nice, and I feel like I’m going to get a lot of use out of this treadmill.

The main two reasons I recommend this treadmill over the TR1000—an even more affordable machine—are the second console option and the longer deck. The Omni Hub console has a sleeker look. The longer deck length is advantageous for users training closer to the 4.0 mph maximum speed. If that sounds like something you are interested in, check out the TR1200!

The LifeSpan TX6 is the newest edition to LifeSpan’s under-desk treadmill line. It comes in two colors: black and white. While I think the white could make a nice aesthetic choice for some homes, I’m worried about its longevity. The white belt could get dirty very quickly. I recommend the black option for the office, just in case.

Two points that stand out to me about the TX6 are its lighter weight (88 lbs) and lower price. The weight is still pretty heavy for an under-desk treadmill, but that’s part of the deal with LifeSpan’s high quality. Yet, the TX6 is a little easier to maneuver than their other machines. As for the lower price, I think that speaks for itself.

You get all the features we love about LifeSpan under-desk treadmills, like Intelli-Guard and Intelli-Step. Intelli-Guard shuts off the treadmill if you step off it, so it won’t keep running if you leave it unattended. As for the Intelli-Step, it counts your steps, helping you track your progress toward your daily goal.

The LifeSpan TR1000 is more compact with a 44” long deck, making it best for walkers training at a slower speed or with a shorter stride.

The LifeSpan TR1000 Under-Desk treadmill is great for personal use at a desk. It isn’t as powerful as the other LifeSpan treadmills, so it may not be the best option for sharing with an entire office team. However, it still supports up to six hours of daily use—that’s more than enough for me.

If you have a more compact work area and are worried about taking up a walkway, the LifeSpan TR1000’s deck is six inches shorter than the others at 44”. The speed is capped at 4.0 mph on LifeSpan machines, so this shorter length shouldn’t be a problem for most users unless you have a particularly long stride.

The LifeSpan TR1000 does not support the Omni Hub console option, but I don’t mind the Retro Hub. You can also connect the treadmill to the LifeSpan app on your phone, so I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything.

What To Expect From LifeSpan Treadmills

LifeSpan treadmills are all about quality. While these may not be the cheap walking treadmills some users are looking for, they will likely last much longer. Their robust frames and motors ensure you can train for hours per day without issue.

Intelli-Step

The Intelli-Step feature tracks your steps, which is very handy for anyone who wants to keep track of their steps. I get frustrated using under-desk treadmills while working because my arms aren’t swinging, and thus, my fitness tracker does not count my steps. Since the treadmill does it for me, I can ensure I hit my goal!

Intelli-Guard

The Intelli-Guard feature senses whether someone is walking on the treadmill or not. If you leave the treadmill running but walk away, Intelli-Guard will stop the belt. This feature is useful in an office space where you may have to step away quickly but don’t want to endanger anyone else walking nearby.

LifeSpan Treadmills FAQ’s

Are LifeSpan treadmills worth it?

LifeSpan treadmills are worth it for walkers who are serious about hitting their daily walking goals and plan on training for hours daily. The LifeSpan treadmills are also great for sharing in an office so that everyone can use the treadmill for an hour or two.

Can you run on a LifeSpan treadmill?

No, you cannot run on a LifeSpan under-desk treadmill. It is designed for walking only and has a maximum speed of 4.0 mph.

How long does a LifeSpan treadmill last?

LifeSpan treadmills are robust machines. If you follow the maintenance schedule recommended in the user manual (cleaning and lubricating the deck), the treadmill should last many years. I also recommend adhering to the maximum daily use limit for your treadmill to keep the motor from burning out prematurely.
