So, you’ve found the ideal treadmill to help you crush your goals but you aren’t sure if you should buy it now or wait for it to go on sale. While there’s no guarantee that the treadmill you’re eyeing will be marked down in the near future (or ever), there are certain times of year that are better to buy many treadmills. This is also true for other types of fitness equipment. At certain times of the year, most fitness brands hold sales. Another thing to keep in mind is that brands often update and even discontinue models over the years so not only do you want to pay attention to when the best time to buy a treadmill or other fitness equipment is, but you also want to be sure that when you’re ready to buy, the model you want is still available.

When is the best time to buy to a treadmill Sydney running

Buying a quality treadmill like the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is possible all throughout the year.

Along with testing all kinds of treadmills and fitness equipment, we’ve seen prices fluctuate from brands. Keep reading to find out the best times of the year to buy a treadmill.

The Best Time To Buy A Treadmill And Other Exercise Equipment

During different holidays, many brands hold sales on treadmills and other fitness equipment. The following are the most common times of year that we see markdowns.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday

Black Friday, aka the day after Thanksgiving, is when most fitness brands offer the best deals. Not only can you score a massive large-screen TV from Walmart, but you can usually find a really great sale on a treadmill. In recent years, the lines between Black Friday and Cyber Monday (the following Monday after Thanksgiving) have been blurred, as well as when Black Friday weekend actually starts.

More and more we’re seeing brands start offering Black Friday treadmill and fitness deals at the beginning of November and extending until well after Cyber Monday. Deals vary from brand to brand and model to model, but check out our Black Friday treadmill deals list and fitness deals list for when that time of year approaches to see the best sales from top brands.

End Of The Year/ New Year’s

Holidays in December through New Year’s Day are another popular time to see marked-down fitness equipment. The motto “new year, new me” has become such a common trend that treadmill and fitness brands cater to. If your New Year’s resolution is to get in shape, you’re not alone. Many people have this goal which makes the end of the year through the New Year a popular time to buy a treadmill.

Along with most likely seeing some excellent fitness equipment deals, some brands start updating their lineup of equipment at the end of the year/ beginning of the year. This means the treadmill you’ve been wanting to buy might be getting a facelift for the New Year and you could see it marked down before the new model hits the market. And if you want the latest model, you could be in luck to find it this time of year.

Other Holidays

Other holidays like President’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day are common times to see some good treadmill sales. Deals during these holidays are usually spread over the weekend if not a week or so.

Summer, in general, is usually a less common time for most people to buy a treadmill, so some brands mark down models to encourage more people to purchase. While others are hitting the lake or beach, you might find a good deal on a treadmill to help you stay in shape throughout the year.

Treadmill Buying Guide

If you’ve just started your treadmill search, you might be wondering where to start. We recommend considering the following.

Your Goals and Home

The first things to consider are your training goals and where you’ll be using the treadmill. What do you want the treadmill for? Are you planning on running for multiple miles per day on it? Do you want one to use under your desk? Maybe you’re looking for a non-motorized treadmill for your garage gym. Finding the right type of treadmill and one that matches your goals is important. There are all kinds of treadmills on the market that are made for different purposes so you want to find one that will work best for you.

LifeSpan TR1200 Under Desk Treadmill Walking At Desk

An under-desk treadmill is a good option for your home office if you have the space.

You also want to make sure that the treadmill you want will fit in your home. Do you have enough floor space and ceiling clearance to safely use it? If you’re planning on using the treadmill on an upper-level floor, is it an appropriate weight to do so? What about if you live in an apartment, is the treadmill quiet enough to not disturb your neighbors?

Considering the motor and deck size, weight limit, training options, storage capabilities, and the treadmill’s footprint and weight are good places to start when finding a treadmill that aligns with your goals and fits in your home. We also address these factors in our treadmill reviews so you know what to expect from specific models and where they can be used.

Treadmill Content

Freemotion T22.9 Reflex sydney console

One of our favorite training platforms is iFit, which offers thousands of guided workout classes.

Another factor that might not seem very important but can influence how much you actually use your treadmill is the content. Many treadmills nowadays include touchscreens with subscription training content. Some even let you watch Netflix from them. While there are still models that have simple LCD consoles with onboard workout programs, you want to make sure the treadmill you buy has the programming you want. If you want a treadmill that you can hop on and go to zone out on, you might not be interested in one with a large touchscreen. Alternatively, if you like having some guidance and even a trainer to follow along with, a treadmill that comes with the option to stream training content is probably the best option for you.

Budget

Your budget is another important factor. Not only do treadmills come in all different sizes, but they vary pretty widely in price. We’ve seen models for only a couple hundred dollars up to several thousand dollars. The type of treadmill and its features usually influence the price the most, but you can still get a quality treadmill for running at a decent price. We have the following lists of the best treadmills by price points that you can check out here.
