Which one of these compact, foldable treadmills with iFIT should you choose?

ProForm is a subsidiary of Icon Fitness, which is now referred to as iFIT. iFIT is also the parent company of NordicTrack, iFIT, and Freemotion. In the winter of 1975, Edward and Florence Pauls of Chaska, Minnesota, built the first indoor ski machine in their garage. Ed wanted a way to train indoors during the brutal Minnesota winters.

Their indoor ski trainer was so successful the Pauls soon found themselves running a thriving manufacturing business that expanded to include treadmills, ellipticals, and other cardio equipment.

The Pauls ran this company out of their home until they retired. In 1998, Icon Fitness, located in Logan, Utah, acquired the company. Icon is now one of the largest manufacturers of health and fitness equipment.

Why You Should Trust Us

We have the unique ability to test treadmills from several brands. ProForm is one of the brands that we test the most. We’ve used several versions of their treadmills and most of their current lineup.

In our testing, we assess every treadmill’s performance, functionality, training content, noise, deck cushioning, and motor responsiveness. In addition to our testing, we’ve put miles on every ProForm treadmill that’s rolled into our studio. We know these treadmills, so we’re here to help you find the best one.

The Pro 9000 tops ProForm’s Pro line with a powerful 3.6 HP motor. This is their highest-powered machine and is best suited for runners and walkers looking for a treadmill to support heavier usage.

The 12% incline and 12 mph max speed are good features for a folding treadmill. It has a 20” wide by 60” long belt, which is about as long as you can get on a folding deck. The ProShox cushioning increases comfort with each foot strike so that you can run longer with less fatigue and joint discomfort. It’s firm underfoot but offers shock absorption.

All of this makes for a challenging and comfortable experience as you follow along with iFIT instructors on the 16” touchscreen. With thousands of workouts to choose from, using the Carbon Pro 9000 will soon become an enjoyable part of your daily routine.

The Carbon Pro 2000 is one of ProForm’s best-selling treadmills due to its affordable price and great features. The Carbon Pro 2000 has a 3.0 CHP motor, a 20″ by 60″ belt, and ProShox cushioning with a 10” touchscreen. It has just about everything the Pro 9000 has while being more affordable.

The 12 mph max speed and 12% incline are good training options, and the weight capacity is 350 lbs, so this treadmill will work for most users. The EasyLift assist, hydraulic release, and compact design make it convenient to use in many homes.

The Carbon TLX is affordable and simple yet functional and well-powered. It’s the only treadmill from ProForm without a touch screen. It has a 7” high-contrast display that you can use with or without iFIT. iFIT is available to stream from your device and pair with the TLX. The 60” long and 20” wide deck pairs well with the 3.0 HP motor.

We recommend this budget treadmill for light to moderate running. It also features a 12 mph max speed and 12% incline so that you can vary your training. Although the ProForm Carbon TLX isn’t the fanciest treadmill, it’s a great option if you’re looking to save and don’t want a touch screen.

Other ProForm Treadmills We’ve Tested

ProForm Trainer 1000 Treadmill

If you love iFIT and want the best bang for your buck, consider the Trainer 1000. It’s currently a part of the ProForm+ Program. You get this treadmill for free when you buy three years of iFIT!

What To Expect From ProForm Treadmills

ProForm is great at offering quality designs and features while considering space and budget. We like that you can access all the same classes on iFIT as on NordicTrack’s treadmills but for a fraction of the cost. iFIT lets you train with several personal trainers who guide you through countless classes on and off the treadmill.

If space is a factor for you when buying a treadmill, know that all of ProForm’s treadmills fold up to leave you more room when not in use. ProForm also makes their treadmills sleek yet straightforward to use.

ProForm Treadmills FAQ’s

Can I watch Netflix on my ProForm treadmill?

Netflix and other streaming apps are currently in beta testing with an iFIT Pro membership.

How do you maintain a ProForm treadmill?

Regularly lubricating the belt and making sure it is properly aligned and tightened is good for any treadmill maintenance. We also recommend wiping down your treadmill and placing a treadmill mat underneath it to help the motor stay free from debris.

What’s the difference between ProForm and NordicTrack?

ProForm’s treadmills are a little more compact, and every treadmill is foldable. ProForm features iFIT and many of the same features as NordicTrack but at a generally lower price.
