NordicTrack is one of the fitness industry’s oldest manufacturers. In 1975, Edward and Florence Pauls built a ski machine in their garage in Chaska, Minnesota. Ed wanted to train indoors during the brutal Minnesota winter. The ski machine was so successful that the Pauls found themselves running a thriving manufacturing business that expanded to include treadmills, ellipticals, and other cardio equipment.

In 1998, Icon Fitness, located in Logan, Utah, acquired NordicTrack. Icon, which is now called iFit Health & Fitness, is also the parent company of ProForm, Weider, and FreeMotion. iFit is one of the largest manufacturers of health and fitness equipment.

NordicTrack offers a plethora of highly functional treadmills, and we enjoy testing and reviewing these machines. Check out our top picks from NordicTrack’s treadmill lineup below.

Why You Should Trust Us

We have been reviewing NordicTrack treadmills for years! NordicTrack treadmills have evolved right before our eyes into the high-tech treadmills of today. Our team of experts has tested dozens of NordicTrack treadmills and followed hundreds of iFIT workouts. We know what to expect and look for from a NordicTrack treadmill.

We also review more than just NordicTrack. Our goal is never to push you toward one brand or another, which is why we have reviews for Sole, Horizon, Bowflex, and more. All of these brands have their strengths, giving us a better perspective on what we like (and don’t like) about NordicTrack machines.

Editors Note 10/30/2024: We updated this page to reflect our current recommendations from the NordicTrack brand, considering the latest additions to their lineup. We also added a comparison chart to help you find the right treadmill for your home.

The 1750 is one of NordicTrack’s best-selling treadmills. The Commercial line offers decline in addition to incline, so you can drop the front of the deck -3% for downhill training or gentle knee strengthening. It’s unusual to find a decline on a folding treadmill, so we love the innovation here!

A 12 mph speed is about the most that anyone should need, and the 3.5 CHP motor keeps the power flowing through speed changes and incline adjustments. You get all this for a reasonable price, which makes the 1750 consistently popular.

What are the top features for us? We love the 14″ touchscreen and sleek design!

The NordicTrack X22i offers a great combination of a gorgeous 22″ touchscreen, 40% to -6% incline and decline, 12 mph max speed, a spacious tread belt, and super soft Reflex Cushioning.

The screen is the perfect size at 22″, so you retain the one-touch controls for speed and incline along the side. This touchscreen pulls you in and makes it feel like you are right there, in the iFit class or on an outdoor route, enjoying the scenery and exercise.

A powerful fan in the console has four settings, and speakers under the screen offer good sound. Water bottle holders on either side of the screen are easy to reach, and a lip above the speakers provides the perfect place to see a phone or tablet. I love training on the X22i, and I bet you will, too!

The NordicTrack Commercial 2450 Treadmill has a large 22″ touchscreen that lets you view iFit classes very easily, not only because of how crisp the screen is but also because of how adjustable it is. The touchscreen can be tilted up and down and pivoted 180 degrees to each side. This way, if you’re taking a treadmill boot camp class or want to utilize the screen for off-the-treadmill training like yoga and strength, you can!

We love the quick-touch buttons on either side of the screen, which makes using the treadmill very straightforward. The 2450 has soft cushioning and a 20″ x 60″ running surface that accommodates all user abilities and sizes up to 300 lbs. The 3.6 CHP motor is quiet and can handle all kinds of use.

The NordicTrack EXP 10i has a 10-inch touchscreen to access iFIT’s training library and third-party apps. It’s on the smaller side, so it may not be ideal for all users. However, it isn’t too difficult to navigate, and we still enjoy following our favorite iFIT coaches and streaming Netflix while walking on it.

The treadmill belt is 20” x 55”, so it may be a little short for running for some users, but it is perfect for walking. The motor is 2.75 HP, and the speed range is 0 to 10 mph. The EXP 10i is best for all types of walking and light running.

The NordicTrack EXP 10i is a more affordable treadmill with a compact folding frame for easy storage.

The NordicTrack X24 Treadmill has a -6% to 40% incline range. It has a spacious running deck that measures 22” x 60” and a 4.25 CHP motor. It is great for running even your longest, toughest runs. Anyone who is training for an endurance event on the trails or the road will meet their match in the X24.

The 24” touchscreen display is the largest touchscreen currently offered by NordicTrack. It is the ideal way to stream iFIT’s immersive trainer-led video classes or entertainment from Netflix or Prime Video.

The X24 is a premium treadmill with the features to match. It’s a worthy investment for the committed iFIT subscriber.

Other NordicTrack Treadmills We’ve Tested

The other NordicTrack treadmills we tested are still worth your consideration. If you are looking for a better budget option, check out these treadmills. They are similar to those listed above, and I will highlight the differences below.

NordicTrack Commercial 1250 Treadmill

The NordicTrack Commercial 1250 is the most affordable option in the commercial series. It has the smallest screen at 10″ and the weakest motor at 3.0 CHP. I recommend it for runners who want a NordicTrack but want to save as much money as possible.

NordicTrack T Series 6.5S

The NordicTrack T Series 6.5S is more affordable than the rest of the NordicTrack lineup. The console is low-tech, so exercisers will need a tablet or phone to access iFIT. The deck and motor are not as durable for running as the more expensive NordicTrack treadmills, so I recommend it mostly for walking.

What To Expect From NordicTrack Treadmills

While NordicTrack has multiple treadmill series, they share many similarities. We have tested dozens of NordicTrack treadmills, so we have a good idea of what we are in for when we step on the deck. These are the features you can expect from your NordicTrack treadmill.

Cushioning

One of the biggest draws to a NordicTrack treadmill is the cushioning. The incline trainers are the softest, with great shock absorption. The commercial series is soft, too, but not as bouncy as the incline trainers. The EXP series is the least soft but still softer than most of the competition.

iFIT

iFIT owns NordicTrack and is also the name of the training platform NordicTrack treadmills support. Most NordicTrack treadmills have a touchscreen with iFIT that is accessible right from the console with an active membership and internet connection. Without a touchscreen, NordicTrack treadmills pair with the iFIT app on a phone or tablet instead.

iFIT has thousands of training classes from over one hundred trainers. The classes show a coach’s progress over a faraway trail. Your treadmill deck will adjust to match the grade of the trail while the speed automatically adjusts to the pace cued by the coach. As you use iFIT, you can turn on Smart Adjust or ActivePulse for custom speed settings tailored to your fitness.

iFIT has apps for Netflix, Prime Video, and Spotify. You can use these apps alongside an iFIT class or in manual training mode.

Smart Features

In addition to Smart Adjust and ActivePulse, NordicTrack treadmills often have other smart features, such as Bluetooth connectivity for headphones and heart rate monitors. If there is a fan on the console, it will likely have an auto setting that adjusts the fan speed to match your training intensity. NordicTrack’s smart features allow you to train as hands-free as possible.

iFIT also has an AI Coach called Tailor. You can opt into the coach program and communicate with Tailor via text. Tailor helps you pick classes to match your goals.

NordicTrack Treadmills FAQ’s

Is Life Fitness better than NordicTrack?

Life Fitness makes commercial-grade and residential treadmills. Its treadmills are of great construction but have fewer smart features than NordicTrack treadmills. They are more expensive than NordicTrack treadmills but have better warranties. NordicTrack treadmills are more affordable and have better smart training options with iFIT and premium tech features.

Which NordicTrack treadmills decline?

The NordicTrack Commercial 1250, 1750, 2450, X22i, and X24 all decline, while the EXP series and T series treadmills do not.

How long do NordicTrack treadmills last?

NordicTrack treadmills can last more than ten years, but it really depends on whether you keep up with the maintenance schedule.

Do you need an iFIT membership to use a NordicTrack treadmill?

No, you are not required to have an iFIT membership to use a NordicTrack treadmill. The only content options are through iFIT, and you cannot access any streaming services with a membership. I highly recommend an iFIT subscription for any treadmills with a large touchscreen because you miss out on a lot of features without it.

How much does iFIT cost per month?

iFIT is $39/month for a Pro membership, which is the equipment-compatible version. An iFIT Train membership is $15/month and is an app-only subscription.

Do I need to lubricate my NordicTrack treadmill?

Yes, NordicTrack treadmills should be lubricated following the schedule and method advised in your user manual.
