This is an important distinction because running treadmills do not hold up well for extended use at a slow pace as a high-torque, low speed operation is hard on the drivetrain. The iMovR ThermoTread GT has a max speed of 2.5mph, which is ideal for working at a desk. It has also been specifically calibrated with a powerful motor, quiet belt and durable design to operate at low speeds and high torque for several hours per day. Construction

Frame

The sturdy frame that underscores the ThermoTread GT was designed specifically to support the slower-pace, high-friction nature of walking for hours. Many walking treadmills are simply watered-down running treadmills with slower max speeds and a smaller motor. The ThermoTread GT however, has a 3.0 HP motor that can withstand the high-torque nature of walking for hours at slower speeds. Historically, office-based walking treadmills broke down quickly due to an inability to withstand this type of slow paced but continuous use. The reinforced frame, 2-ply belt, self-cooling motor, large rollers, flywheel and pulley is engineered to provide unlimited hours of walking.

Deck

• Cushioning/Feel
  • The ThermoTread has 6 compression shocks under the deck to provide impact control while walking. Even though walking isn’t as high impact as running, after hours on your feet, a bit of underfoot cushioning makes a big difference! The compression shocks reduce the impact from each step so you can walk longer without fatigue or discomfort.
  • iMovR upgraded the ThermoTread deck from the less expensive melamine and phenolic materials typically used in walking treadmills to a thicker 1” Bakelit material that holds up longer over time.
• Length/Width
  • The footprint of the ThermoTread is: 67.5” long x 28.35”wide x 9.5” high. The actual walking belt measures 20” wide and 50” long, which is enough room for a comfortable walking stride. A low-profile motor hood on the front of the treadmill keeps the motor quiet and protected so it doesn’t impede your stride.
• Belt and Side Rails
  • The treadmill has a rubberized 2-ply walking belt, with black, non-scuff aluminum side rails, and a cushioned deck all powered by the 3.0 HP motor. The side rails are slightly higher than the belt which keeps your feet from sliding off while walking. There is also plenty of forward and aft space for a comfortable walking stride so the ThermoTread will support walkers of most heights.

Motor

• 3.0 HP motor
  • The 3.0 HP motor is self-cooling and calibrated to run for unlimited walking hours. While other treadmills may offer higher walking speeds, the 2.5mph max is perfect for standing at a desk. The motor is also virtually silent, there is a bit of noise as the belt slides across the deck, but the motor itself will not disturb you or those in close proximity. The ThermoTread also consumes half the power of comparable treadmills and is more reliable over time for both speed and durability.

Console/Controls

Console Features

• The ThermoTread console features a simple interface that is like using a smartphone, not gym equipment. The console contains an internal computer with USB port for easy downloads of future software upgrades.
• The ThermoTread GT touch-screen LCD console is sleek and fits in with the laptops, tablets and mobile devices found at the modern office workstation.
• The console displays walking speed, distance, time, calorie burn and other performance statistics, just as you’d expect from any treadmill desk.
• Console provides readouts for multiple profiles, so you can have several different users at the same workstation if needed. You can select work mode, personal mode, and adjust general system metrics. Each profile is tailored based on your weight, height and average stride length for accuracy.

Controls

• The console provides a calorie readout for time spent sitting, standing and walking. You can also adjust your speed up or down as needed. There is also a timer button for your convenience.
• A large red stop button on the bottom of your console also makes it easy to quickly stop or pause the treadmill when you need to briefly step off.
• iMovR is currently working on releasing their CloudStation app which will allow users to upload data and other metrics to track your progress and steps over time.

Performance

The iMovR ThermoTread sits at the top of the line for walking treadmills. Since it was designed initially to operate at slow speeds in an office environment, the iMovR ThermoTread is quiet, smooth, doesn’t overheat, can withstand hours of use, has a reasonable max speed, is calibrated to handle the high-friction and torque of slower walking speeds and uses an intuitive console interface. This treadmill is easy to use when at your standing desk and won’t disturb those working (or living) around you. This is not a piece of gym equipment someone dropped in the office — iMovR carefully designed the ThermoTread for your home or work space.

Because the ThermoTread is designed for office use, iMovR is aware that some businesses may have concerns about liability. As a result, iMovR incorporated several features into the ThermoTread to make it safe and protect businesses that may provide walking treadmills in their office.

First, the treadmill is UL certified to not exceed 2.5 mph. Virtually all treadmill injuries happen at higher speeds, either through mishap or due to cardio exhaustion. iMovR reports that no injury claim has ever been reported at this sub-walking speed limit.

Second, before activating the treadmill, the console requires the user to click off on a liability waiver “click wrap.” This exclusive feature protects your organization from unsafe operation and potential liability, while also establishing a record of equipment usage. This feature has been designed specifically for large enterprise organizations and public space usage.

Storage

The iMovR ThermoTread GT weighs 147lbs, which is slightly heavier than comparable walking treadmills. This is due to the reinforced frame construction and sturdy design.Two front mounted transport wheels make it easy to gently lift and roll for proper under-desk positioning. It is not recommended that the treadmill be routinely moved in and out of a closet or in and out of different offices. While it is well built, the treadmill works best when placed where you plan to use it and moved infrequently. A treadmill mat beneath the base is also recommended to protect both the treadmill and your floor surface. A mat also reduces vibrations and impact noise.

Desk Options:

The iMovR ThermoTread GT does not include a desk. This is a walking treadmill that is designed to slide under your existing standing desk. This under desk treadmill includes an LCD console which sits on your desk. iMovR includes several desk options if you want to get a tread/desk combination.
