In-depth NordicTrack X32i Treadmill Review: Testing & Analysis
Dimensions/Storability
The NordicTrack Commercial X32i Incline Trainer is a non-folding treadmill with large dimensions and a heavyweight. It is 76.5” L x 40” W x 73” H. With its size, we recommend having a designated for it to stay and not be moved. The X32i weighs around 462 lbs when it’s delivered in the box, so it’s a very heavy treadmill that’s difficult to move.
There are two front transport wheels mounted under the frame. When you lift up the backend of the deck, the wheels engage to move it around. So, although it is heavy, it can be moved when needed, but you’ll probably not want to move it around often. When you have to move it, you might want an extra hand, too. I’m able to move around some pretty heavy manual treadmills, but Matt, who is 6’5”, has to help me move the X32i.
In addition to the dimensions of the floor space that the NordicTrack X32i occupies, we recommend factoring in a few extra feet surrounding the deck so you can use it safely. You also want to ensure that your ceiling is tall enough to use the X32i and all of its features. This treadmill has a pretty tall deck at 15” high, when flat. Also, considering its high degree of incline, this treadmill requires a higher ceiling than others.
For someone who is 6’0” we recommend having at least a 9’ 6” high ceiling. The ceiling height requirements will vary depending on your height, so make sure to check out our proper ceiling heights for treadmills guidelines to make sure you’ll have plenty of room for the X32i in your home. A good rule of thumb with this treadmill is to add 43” to your height in inches.
Onboard Workouts & Apps
More and more treadmills on the market come with subscription training content and touch screens. To give you this full NordicTrack X32i review, here’s what is available as far as workouts and entertainment content on the X32i.
iFIT
Being from NordicTrack, the X32i comes enabled with iFIT. iFIT is a popular training platform that’s available on all NordicTrack’s equipment. The library consists of over 17,000 workout classes led by instructors. It’s comparable to other training platforms, like Peloton, however, it does have some stand-out features that I’m about to get into. First, though, let’s talk about pricing.
iFIT functions similarly to a gym membership. You pay a monthly fee, or a lump sum upfront to use it, like you would at your local gym. If you’re like me, having to pay a fee for something encourages me to use it. So, I like the accountability that iFIT gives me to keep up with my training, which turns into using the X32i regularly. iFIT costs $39 per month when you pay for the membership monthly. When purchasing the X32i, NordicTrack offers the option to pay upfront for a 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year membership. If you know you’re going to use iFIT, paying for a membership in advance has its perks.
A 1-year membership is $336 which is $28 per month, a 2-year membership is $524 which is around $22 per month, and a 3-year membership is $629 is only $17 per month. So, even though your upfront cost is more, you’re really saving money over time. iFIT also comes free for the first month if you’re a new member, so you can try it out before you subscribe.
What makes iFIT one of the best subscription training platforms is not only the large library of on-demand workouts that you can take any time but its outdoor classes.
You can run through trails in Romania, and hike up areas of Chile while following an instructor. The instructor serves as a tour guide as well as a trainer to guide you through the workout. They provide instruction, motivation, and often fun facts about the location during each class.
Some of the outdoor workouts are even filmed during real-life events like the Boston and Chicago Marathons. You follow an iFIT instructor who guides you through the race and each race is available to take in different parts or you can take each part one after the other to complete the entire race in one training session.
There are also indoor workouts filmed in professional studios. These are modeled after in-person studio fitness classes. The camera points at the instructor who leads the workout and often times participants who are taking the class in person are seen in the background.
Along with plenty of running, walking, hiking, and other treadmill workouts, iFIT offers classes on other equipment like exercise bikes, rowers, and ellipticals. There are also mat classes for yoga, meditation, and strength training. So, the NordicTrack X32i includes more than just workouts you can take on the treadmill, you can follow up your run with a yoga session directly from the treadmill’s screen. Note: the workouts on the other equipment aren’t available to take on the X32i.
If you don’t always want to follow along with an instructor, you can draw your own routes using the Google Map feature. This feature gives you access to a world map where you can create a route to hike, run, or walk on your own. During the workout, Google Images of the location are displayed on the screen.
During each workout, and in Google Maps, music will play in the background. The music functions like a radio with different stations to choose from. Each station has a preselected playlist of songs to listen to. The music seems to be updated fairly regularly. I do wish that some of the indoor-filmed classes would feature music playing in real-time as the workout is filmed. I think this would help add to the overall experience of those workouts.
Overall, for the training options that iFIT provides, it is definitely worth it to subscribe, especially on the NordicTrack X32i Treadmill. iFIT pairs really nicely with the console and touch screen that I get into below.
OnBoard Workouts
You can, of course, use the X32i without a subscription to iFIT. Without a subscription, you have access to manual mode as well as a featured iFIT class. The featured iFIT class changes occasionally to give you a little more variety. Manual mode is the main feature without an iFIT subscription, however. Manual mode doesn’t require wifi without a subscription to iFIT. Manual mode is also available to use with iFIT.
Something to make note of is that streaming from Netflix and other outside apps isn’t available on the NordicTrack X32i. There also isn’t a place to hold your phone or tablet to view your own content, which means you’re locked into iFIT and manual mode on the touch screen.
Console
The NordicTrack Commercial X32i Incline Treadmill has an impressive 32” touch screen. This is where you stream iFIT workouts and access manual mode. As I mentioned above, this is the largest screen size we’ve seen on treadmills. It is huge so you’re able to see everything really well and navigate it easily.
Like the NordicTrack X22i’s screen, it tilts up and down slightly to help avoid overhead glare. The X32i’s screen isn’t as adjustable as NordicTrack’s Commercial Series treadmills, but it doesn’t need to be with its size.
The numbered quick-touch adjustment buttons on either side of the screen make adjusting the NordicTrack X32i really quick and simple. The right side adjusts the speed. Each number coincides with a speed level, and if you want to adjust by 0.1 increments you can press two numbers in a row. So, if you press 6 and 4 back to back, the treadmill will adjust to 6.4 mph. The left side adjusts the incline to the grade listed. In order to adjust the incline by 0.5%, you have to use the arrow buttons below the speakers. There are also buttons on the right to adjust the speed, too.
You have the option for hands-free training on the X32i, as well. In iFIT, the AutoAdjust feature automatically adjusts the treadmill’s speed and incline settings based on the format of each workout. When you’re taking an outdoor workout, the X32i will also adjust the incline and decline based on the terrain.
AutoAdjust is one of my favorite iFIT features. Once you take a few classes, the technology remembers your effort levels. So, for future workouts, you’ll find that you’re able to keep up with the instructor, while still being pushed to increase your fitness over time.
The X32i also adjusts based on your heart rate when you’re paired with a compatible monitor. You can purchase NordicTrack’s SmartBeat armband or connect to ones from Garmin, Polar, Whoop, or Wahoo. With your heart rate, the ActivePulse technology in iFIT’s workouts adjusts the treadmill based on your heart rate to keep you within specific heart rate zones.
The speakers are Bluetooth-enabled to pair with your Bluetooth headphones. You can’t pair them with your device to play your own content through them. In iFIT you can control the music and trainer’s voice volumes to be balanced or to mute one or the other. With and without headphones, the X32i’s speakers have a good volume range and sound clear. We haven’t had any problems with NordicTrack’s treadmills’ speakers.
In between the speakers are the fans which provide a good amount of airflow. They have multiple settings.
One thing to keep in mind with the large screen on the console is that the 2 cupholders are positioned behind it. This means, to reach your water you have to reach around the sides of the screen. The cupholders hold your water bottle in place though. There isn’t a designated device rack.
The horizontal bar extends up in front of the screen and some of the adjustment buttons. This handle gets in the way of the console a little bit, but overall it doesn’t impact the X32i’s functionality or ease of use.
Build Quality
Now, let’s get into the overall construction in this NordicTrack Commercial X32i Incline Treadmill review. One thing I want to point out is that even though The X32i has the word “Commercial” in the title, this treadmill isn’t made for commercial use. The X32i is a premium home treadmill. In comparison, commercial treadmills are rated for public use in gyms that see foot traffic all throughout the day. These treadmills are also priced significantly more than the X32i.
The X32i has a 300 lb weight limit that is standard for NordicTrack Treadmills. This isn’t the highest weight limit that we see on treadmills. The Bowflex Treadmill 22 has a 400 lb limit which is the largest limit we usually see on motorized treadmills. Considering the NordicTrack X32i’s high incline and decline range, this treadmill handles a pretty great amount of weight. Users up to this limit should be able to utilize all of the X32i’s features.
Frame
The X32i from NordicTrack is made with quality materials for a stable and durable build that handles a lot of use. In the over 3 years we’ve had our model of the X32i, this treadmill has been proven to be stable and well-constructed.
The steel frame supports the base of the deck and sits on the floor. Since this is a non-folding treadmill, the frame extends to the entire length of the deck, rather than just under the front part.
From the floor frame, two steel uprights connect and extend up to hold the console, touch screen, and handles in place. Everything remains stable on the console. Even though the front horizontal handle blocks the bottom of the screen and console slightly, it provides a good base to grab when you need balance. The upper handles are also helpful, especially when you’re fully inclined. They have a good texture that doesn’t feel slick, too.
Motor
The NordicTrack Commercial X32i has an impressive 4.25 CHP motor. This is a large motor size for home treadmills. In our testing, the X32i’s motor has handled distance training and high-intensity workouts really well. It is because of this that we recommend this premium treadmill for distance runners and hikers. It’s also a great choice if you have multiple people in your household who want to spend a lot of time on a treadmill.
In addition to being powerful, the motor is also quiet. When recorded at speeds from 3 mph up to 12 mph, the decibels ranged from 51.5 to 65.8. Even at its highest speeds, the X32i generates similar noise output to a printer or a window fan. For reference, the ambient room noise was 35 dB before turning on the treadmill. With its low noise output, the X32i is really non-disruptive and appropriate for most homes.
The X32i goes up to 12 mph which is a 5-minute mile running pace. This is a quick pace that provides plenty of range to choose from for most people. Unless you’re a high-level runner, you should find the 1-12 mph range to provide plenty of challenge.
We timed how quick the motor is to adjust the speed. It takes around 23 seconds to go from 1 mph up to 12 mph. It is responsive and great for interval training. It isn’t quite as fast as Horizon’s premium treadmill, the 7.8 AT, but it only takes a few more seconds to adjust. Those few extra seconds won’t leave you waiting on this treadmill though.
The drive motor that controls the pace of the belt is positioned under the rear of the deck, so it’s out of the way.
There is a separate motor to adjust the incline and decline under the deck, too. This allows the X32i to incline up to 40% and decline to -6%. Both are the highest incline and decline levels that we’ve seen offered on treadmills.
The incline and decline are extremely impressive and make for very challenging workout options. This is where the upper handles on the console are needed. I can barely keep a decent walking pace with the deck fully inclined on the NordicTrack X32i.
Along with the upper handles for balance, the X32i has max speed settings for certain incline and decline ranges to help keep you safe while using this treadmill’s training features. At a 16% incline the speed tops at 8 mph and at a 25% and above incline, the speed goes up to 6 mph max. While declining, the speed goes up to an 8 mph max at -3%, and at the full -6% decline, the speed maxes out at 6 mph.
Considering how challenging the incline and decline are, these speed ranges should still provide plenty of range for most people.
The incline and decline adjust quickly for interval training, too. From 0% up to the full 40% it takes around 24 seconds and it only takes 5 seconds to adjust the -6% decline from 0%.
We measured the accuracy of the incline and decline as we do on other treadmills we review. At a flat grade, the deck measured at 0%. Many other treadmills we’ve tested, including others from NordicTrack have a slight incline when the deck is adjusted to the treadmills’ 0%. So, the X32i is very accurate. The decline is also very accurate at -6.3%. The incline measured at 38.8%, so not quite 40%, but with this small of a difference, you won’t notice. This isn’t factoring in the cushioning which is the amount of give in the deck when you’re walking and running on the treadmill.
Along with all of these training features, the NordicTrack X32i also lets you do sled-pushing. When you set the speed to 1 mph at a flat grade, you can push the belt with your feet while holding the handles to mimic pushing a weighted sled in the gym. This allows you to engage even more muscles and adds even more variety to your training.
Deck
Runners, hikers, and walkers also have plenty of room to do all that the X32i offers on the deck. It is 22” wide and 65” long to accommodate all stride lengths. 60” is what we’ve found to handle most runners. The X32i just offers a little bit more length in case you need it and have space in your home for it.
The deck also has a fairly high step-up height of 15” when flat, so keep this in mind if you have mobility issues. It isn’t as low as other treadmills.
This is one of the most comfortable running decks we’ve used. The cushioning is very absorbent and forgiving on the joints. If you have joint sensitivity, the X32i is a treadmill to consider. I love how comfortable it feels underfoot while running.
At speeds over 9 mph, it can feel a little bouncy, so just keep this in mind. If you prefer running on a firmer surface, you might want to consider the Sole TT8 or Sole F85. The cushioning on these treadmills feels more similar to running outside on roads.
If you’re looking for a really well-cushioned deck and a treadmill that comes with maximum training features though, the NordicTrack X32i is it. It’s definitely worth it and the solid construction pairs really well with all of its features.
Warranty
When you purchase the NordicTrack X32i Incline Trainer, it comes with a 10-year frame, 2-year parts, and a 1-year labor warranty. This is NordicTrack’s standard warranty. For set-up, having multiple people is very helpful because of its large size and weight.
Should You Buy The NordicTrack Commercial X32i Treadmill
When it comes to features and build quality, the NordicTrack X32i offers the best of the best. If you’re looking for a home treadmill with maximum features, the X32i is the one to consider. The 32” touch screen is the largest screen we’ve seen thus far on treadmills. It offers streaming from iFIT with a subscription. iFIT’s content is really unmatched when it comes to the outdoor workouts. You can train all over the world from the comfort of the X32i’s deck.
Speaking of comfort, this treadmill has some of the best deck cushioning we’ve tested. It’s forgiving on your joints to help minimize the high impact that running involves. The X32i is also a highly challenging treadmill when you utilize all of its training capabilities. The 40% incline and -6% decline make you feel like you’re hiking up and down actual mountains and the 12 mph max speed will cause most runners to work up a great sweat. It’s also quiet, easy to use, and fun! If you have the space for this non-folding treadmill and are looking for the best premium home treadmill on the market, we highly encourage you to look into the NordicTrack X32i.

This review says you can run Netflix on the tablet but I’ve found NO way that this is possible. Please explain if I am missing something.
Hi Jessica,
To clarify: you cannot run Netflix (or access the web) on the x32i touchscreen. It is designed to run iFit programs only. However, you can place a personal tablet, iPad, etc., on the ledge in front of the screen and watch Netflix from your device. If your device is Bluetooth enabled, you should be able to sync it with the x32i and listen through the speakers too.
Look at the Nelson Munoz X22i YouTube videos . Nelson was able to install Netflix and YouTube apps on his treadmill and View a movie while he runs/walks.
Can these be used in a small fitness gym?
Shaun,
The x32i is not rated for commercial use, so you would have to check with the manufacturer to clarify how this usage would affect your warranty.
What is the weight capacity of this treadmill?
George,
300 pounds is the maximum weight capacity for the Commercial x32i. (~136 kilos)
Just purchased the x32i . Received it the past week . Went on it this morning to workout , but belt is not working
Kristine,
Oh no! Is the console working just not the belt? I’d check underneath first to make sure something isn’t stuck or jamming it and then I’d contact NordicTrack about the issue. The x32i has a 10 year frame, 2 year parts, and 1 year labor warranty, so if you just bought it, it should be covered. I’m so sorry to hear it’s not working. Best of luck!
How does the screen placement on the X32i differ from the X22i?
From the review it looks like the X32i screen is placed lower than on the X22i
I’m concerned that to get the fully immersed view on the X32i you’d have to run with your head slightly hung down
Did you notice any weird head placement to be able to look at the screen?
I’m trying to decide between the 2 models -I’m 5’5
Erika,
The x32i screen is larger, but it’s not placed lower. The screen tilts slightly up and down so you can find the right angle. The screen is large enough it is easy to see from any angle or any height. You should be fine with either model. If you have the space and budget for the x32i, it is a premier machine — we highly recommend it!
Great review. How do the “auto adjustments” work for the classes for pace? Do you “pick a base pace” or something and then the class deviates from that (so different ability runners can do the same class and both find it challenging) or does it literally pick the speed (so different ability runners cannot really so the same classes)?
Richard,
The pace is automated to be the same for every runner — however, you can override the automated pace/incline at any time by simply pressing the speed or incline you want. The x32i will stay there until you adjust it again or hit the “follow trainer” icon in the lower left corner of the screen. So you have the option of using the automated system or overriding it for either speed or incline. If you adjust the speed, but not the incline, then the incline will stay automated with the trainer but the speed will remain where you set it (and vice versa). So you can manually control one or both features whenever you want.
Do I have choice to run the maps without a guide or are guides always present?
Mick,
Do you mean run without a trainer leading and talking during the run? Yes — there are Google Maps routes that you can run that do not have a trainer leading the run. These are a series of photos that update as you run, it’s not a video, but you can run any where in the world with the Google maps feature — you can even create your own route.
How does Norditrack company to other companies in terms of reliability and customer service? This looks like the treadmill for me, but the negative reviews circulate around these two topics. Also, your thorough review is very much appreciated. Do you have long term experience/testing for this or other norditrack products that would help gauge reliability and customer service?
Logan,
Reviews are mixed on Nordictrack’s customer service. We hear great things about Nordictrack, but we also get feedback from frustrated customers. Not too long ago we did an internal study and found that the reports of reliability and poor customer service were no greater with NT products than others we test — they just have more products on the market and therefore more items in circulation that could possibly have issues. We find NT products hold up well for both function and durability. The x32i is one of our favorite treadmills from any company. We have used and tested this product extensively and find it to be a quality machine.
Thank you for your kind response. I would recommend that you include reliability and customer service as a regular element of your reviews.
Thanks for the feedback! We will make an effort to incorporate both elements in our future reviews.
I’m currently 295 which is close to the weight limit. Is that too close? The machines that have weight limits over 300 don’t have the same features.
David,
The x32i is a solid machine. You should be fine at 295lbs.
I live in Florida and have a gym in the garage, will the treadmill be ok out there during the hot humid days?
Renata,
We recommend you unplug your machine when you are finished, but otherwise you should be fine in a covered garage. The main concern would be moisture affecting the motor system, so watch for moisture buildup or other signs of humidity on the console. Also, the combination of humidity and sweat can make the handlebars and side rails slippery if they get too wet, so keep a towel on hand if needed. And make sure to fully hydrate yourself if you plan to workout in a hot, humid environment! Good luck!
So many features, but is there any console device that will measure your pulse, or heart rate while working out ? No mention of this at all, for some it’s an important issue. Also, is there a clock to check existing time and is there a way to set your workout time (15 min. 30 min. 45 min. etc) No mention of these basic necessities. None of these basics were shown in the video. Before purchasing something like this it would be good to know.
Michael,
The console is Bluetooth enabled to sync with a HR chest strap, which is included with purchase of the x32i. Your heart rate will be displayed on the screen throughout your workout when you wear the chest strap. Using Manual Mode, you can set your workout time to whatever you want it to be. At the beginning of any iFit program it will tell you the length of the workout, so you know if it’s 20min, 30min, 60min, etc. The timer on the screen shows you time elapsed and time remaining in each workout, but there is not a time clock on the console.
Hello. , I live in a building in Florida .How heavy is the machine .
Breezy,
The Nordictrack x32i weighs just over 400 pounds. It is a heavy machine. But it is also well built and has impressive features. If you plan to assemble it on a second story or higher, we recommend having it hauled upstairs in the box and then assembling it in the room you plan to use it. It is too heavy and bulky to try and lift once it is assembled.
Hi Kacey,
Very thorough review., thank you! I saw a video where you showed max speed on the Peloton but you did not show max speed in this one. How stable is this one at 12 mph and how loud?
Robert,
Good question! The x32i will go up to 12mph and it is quite stable at that speed. It is quieter than the Peloton since the belt and deck offer more cushioning. Both treadmills are solid and designed to support high speeds and heavy training. But the x32i is significantly more comfortable and much less noisy at the 12mph pace. For safety reasons, you can only go 8mph when the deck is fully inclined to 40%. Most people can’t run faster than that at that level of incline anyway, but it is something to be aware of. Hope this helps. Good luck!
We are moving the treadmill that is already assembled. Howe difficult is it to detach and reattached the bar and console to fit in a van?
Rebecca,
If you still have the original manual, we recommend looking at the steps in reverse to detach the console and uprights. It will take two people and the tools that came with, but it’s doable. Just be careful of the wires when detaching the console. Good luck!
We have the nordictrack x32i treadmill, and it says to turn it off and unplug from the wall every time we are not using it. Is this true? It takes a while to reload after we do this, and we have had to re calibrate our machine every time we turn it on, otherwise the inclines do not go up and down with the ifit classes. Also, I tried to join a live class today and the class would not load, my screen was just black and buffering and never opened to the live class that was going on at the time.
Jaime,
Yes, Nordictrack recommends unplugging and turning off the machine at the end of each session, but we agree, this is a pain and it takes a long time to reload iFit when you turn it on. We haven’t had an issue with the screen turning black, I’d recommend contacting Nordictrack customer service about that. We don’t know why Nordictrack doesn’t have the screen time out to a black mode after 10 minutes of non-use. This would be a lot easier than plugging and unplugging it all the time. Sorry, we don’t have a better solution. We unplug and turn ours off after each use as well.
Do you have to purchase ifit after the first year or does it have free video workouts?
Laurie,
The x32i has free workouts. iFit workouts are better with more options, but you can access a few free onboard workouts after the iFit subscription expires.
On X32i (new delivered on Jan 2021). works fine but sometimes during runs it stops at higher speeds and comes back again in few seconds (incline seems to reset and does not work again). Need to reset the unit and reload then it works fine until the next workout. I am using the recommended surge suppressor (Tripp-Lite)
Have you or anyone seen this issue before on this machine?
Pablo,
I haven’t seen that issue! That’s weird that it stops and could be as safety issue. I’d recommend contacting Nordictrack CS on that to see what they say. Maybe take it off the surge protector for a workout or two and see if that makes a difference?
Hi Kristen! Is the weight limit a hard limit? Absolutely nothing over 300lbs? Or would someone over the 300lb weight limit be able to do at least just walking on the x32i ?
Tara,
If you’re just a little over the weight limit, you should be fine. If the x32i begins to bounce when it’s inclined just lower the deck a bit. The cushioning on the x32i is very generous so you may feel the deck descend just a bit with each footstep, but it is a solid machine and would be great for walking, hiking, etc.
If you’re more than 25 pounds over the weight limit, I’d recommend the Sole F80 or Sole F85. They are rated to support up to 375-400 pounds so they’re a good alternative.
Great review, thanks. Are you able to speak to the iFit application as compared to All Access on the Peloton Tread+? Specifically as it relates to workouts that involve both on and off the treadmill work (i.e. HIIT, Bootcamp, etc.)?
Both iFit and Peloton have extensive programming for on and off the treadmill. Either will give you hundreds of options. It comes down to which app you prefer.
I just purchased the x32i and I am looking to put it upstairs in our workout room. Do you think the weight of the treadmill, plus someone running on it will be too heavy for the floor?
That’s a good question. It mostly depends on the strength of your floors. If you have solid construction and you don’t notice a lot of jarring and thuds when people move around upstairs you should be okay. The x32i weighs just over 400 pounds, so add your user weight to that and any additional impact from jumping or running to make sure your floors are able to support that amount of impact.
Hi. Love your reviews.
My question is that I see on Nordicktracks website that the x32i got an upgrade for 2021 with improved tech. Is your review on this newest model?
Thanks
Stephen,
We have updated the written review to reflect changes on the 2021 model. However, we haven’t updated the video yet. We plan to do that soon.
Kristen, thank you for a great review very helpful! Can you project the iFit work out to a TV? I think it would be easier to do some of the strength and yoga exercises and still see the instructors if it was on a tv rather than have the screen on top of the treadmill
Thanks so much, Mike
Mike,
The new 2021 x32i does not have an HDMI port nor does it support casting. This would be a nice feature, although the screen is large enough, as long as you are in the same room you should be able to see it.
Thanks for your review. It has been very helpful. After researching this treadmill a lot, I have become concerned about the banging that can occur when running at higher speeds. I don’t run fast, but I guess there is always hope. 😉 Also, when running fartleks, I might hit some higher speeds. The video on YouTube was frightening. I would appreciate hearing from you on the subject. Thanks.
J,
We’ve had reports of this too. I did notice that our x32i gets a bit noisier over 9mph, but I wouldn’t describe it as “banging,” it’s more just the speed of the belt as it moves across the deck gets louder. The YouTube video you are referring to has been referenced several times and I think there’s something wrong with that machine. Ours doesn’t make that noise. We have not heard the same issue on the x22i, so you could look into that one. The 2950 is also a good folding treadmill with comparable power – just not as much cushioning. Good luck! Hopefully this helps a little.
Hi Kristen,
Great review, thanks.
From your review of the 2021 Vs previous models of the x32i do you know what the differences are? Here in the UK I cannot get the 2021 model yet so just wondering if it’s worth the wait.
Thanks
Phil
Phil,
Great question. The upgrades on the 2021 model include Android OS 9 with faster processing speed so there’s less buffering time and the classes load faster. It also has a new incline motor that is faster and quieter. However, the overall functionality of the machine hasn’t changed – just a few tweaks on the 2021 model. The previous model (2019/2020) is an excellent option with a solid build. The only complaint we consistently heard about the 2020 model was occasional issues with the control board. I think this has been fixed on the 2021 model since we are no longer hearing negative feedback about that issue from customers.
Nice review, a couple of comments. In your review you said it took just over a minute for the incline to decline from 40 to 0 degrees, but on my 2021 model it only took 25 seconds. So you may want to update that.
Also you should mention the benefits of using a chest or arm strap to measure heart rate, as the 32i now has a Smartadjust feature which will adjust the intensity down to your level on any trainer workout. Just set your heart rate zones and the machine will lower your speed when your heart rate gets out of the zone (for example zone 3) and raises the speed when it gets too low. It’s a fantastic feature.
Bruce,
Thank you for your comment! You are correct, the new 2021 model has a faster incline motor which is both quieter and significantly faster when raising/lowering the deck. We have a new 2021 video review coming out this week that should demonstrate this for users. Also, I love the new SmartAdjust feature as well! iFit is continuously updating their programming – which we love, but it does take some time to constantly update all our content to match. We’ll incorporate that into the written review. Thanks and we hope you continue to love your x32i!
Just purchased and received the x32. Can not figure out how to sync with iphone. No proper instructions. Tried turning off and on bluetooth etc. help.
Our x32i comes up as iFit Audio on our Bluetooth list. If you hit the Bluetooth button on the x32i console, it should send out a signal to be picked up by your phone.
Great and thorough reviews, thank you. What is the actual running deck height? We have 8’ ceilings in our basement and I am 5’7”. All the reviews I’ve read put me pretty close to touching my head on the ceiling when at maximum incline so I’m trying to do some calculations myself using the base running deck height as a semi-accurate starting point. Also: does the screen swivel? If I’m watching yoga or weights can I stand in front of the treadmill or will I not be able to see the screen? Our room set-up works best with the weights in front of the treadmill rather than behind or to the side. Lastly – treadmill on carpet ok? Medium pile carpet. Many thanks!
Melanie,
Good question. When set to a flat grade, the x32i is 15″ off the floor. When you incline it to the highest 40% incline, the top of the deck pivots up to 34” inches off the floor. We recommend adding an extra inch or two for bounce as well.
The screen does not swivel. It does pivot up and down, but doesn’t swivel side to side. However, because the screen is so large, you can see it from anywhere in a normal-sized room. The volume is loud and clear as well.
Yes, you can put a treadmill on carpet, although I recommend placing a treadmill mat underneath. Since this machine is so large it will leave divots in your carpet. A treadmill mat protects your carpet and keeps it in good condition.
The deck seems very bouncy. Does it return energy to you when you run making you run faster than you would on another treadmill? Faster than on the 2950 for example?
Ainsworth,
Not necessarily. If you run faster than 9mph (6:40min/mile) the deck does get a bit bouncy. The 2950 is better if you plan to run fast speeds or long distances. The x32i is excellent for incline training, hill work, and moderate speeds. For serious runners, we usually recommend the 2950.
CAN WE FINANCE THE ITEM
Yes, contact Nordictrack for financing options
I’m thinking about necessary ceiling height. How high is the deck from the floor.
Matthew,
The step-up height on the x32i is 15″ off the floor – this is the height when the deck is NOT inclined. When fully inclined, the top of the deck lifts to 34″ off the floor.
Hi I am trying to find a compare between nordictrack x32i an the Matrix T75 XUR
Have you compared the machines?
Cheers
Mike
