Our ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill Video Review

Pros
  • The 10” touch screen is enabled with iFit which comes free for the first month.
  • It is affordable and includes impressive features like automatic adjusting with iFit.
  • This treadmill is compact, lightweight, and folds up when you are finished.
  • This treadmill is ideal for walking and jogging.
  • The construction is solid and backed with a 10-year frame warranty.
Cons
  • We don’t recommend this for extensive training.
  • The deck is only 20” wide and 55” long so it may not work for all users.

Treadmill FeaturesTreadmill Specs
  • Great for walking
    • If you are looking for an affordable treadmill for walking, the Carbon T10 is a great option. It folds up, has a relatively compact footprint when open, is quiet, and has wheels so it can be gently rolled out of the way when needed. The 2.75 CHP motor is well-suited for gentle walking, a brisk pace, power walking, jogging, and short speed intervals.
  • Good for smaller spaces
    • ProForm has streamlined much of the design to make this an ideal option for anyone who lives in an apartment, condo, shared space, or upstairs floor. The Carbon T10 weighs 205 pounds so it’s sturdy but not as heavy as other treads that are nearly impossible to get upstairs.
    • The total footprint of the Carbon T10 is 34” wide by 73” deep and 58” tall.
  • Works for jogging
    • If you are looking for something that will support light jogging, the Carbon T10 works well. The 2.75 CHP motor will go up to 12 mph and the deck has the ProShox cushioning system. While we don’t recommend this machine for those who plan to do extensive, long-distance running, it is well-suited for jogging at a 6 to 7 mph pace. Quick intervals above that are easily managed as well.
  • Not recommended for running
    • While ProForm has updated several features on the Carbon T10, the motor is within the range we recommend for jogging and walking. We recommend those who want to run faster than 6mph for more than 3 miles take a look at the Pro 2000 or Pro 9000.
  • Aids with cardiovascular training
    • The combination of incline options and speed variables make this a good treadmill for cardiovascular training. You can stay aerobic and comfortably in that fat-burning zone while you walk briskly on a 12% incline. This allows users to stay low-impact but still get a good workout. Cardiovascular training conditions both the heart and lungs while your legs work to move you along. Increased blood flow to the extremities increases circulatory efficiency even when you’re not exercising.
  • iFit includes Strength Training options
    • In addition, iFit includes strength classes you can do off the treadmill. There are class options that include weight equipment such as dumbbells and resistance bands or iFit also includes body weight resistance options. You can strengthen and tone your whole body using your iFit subscription so the Carbon T10 isn’t just for cardio exercise.
  • The Carbon T10 is a good tool for weight loss
    • When you exercise your daily caloric needs increase because exercising increases your body’s demands for nutrients, blood, and oxygen. If you carefully regulate your daily calorie intake to be just less than what you burn, you can facilitate weight loss. Regular, gentle exercise is the most effective way to achieve and maintain weight loss over time. When used regularly with varied iFit classes and training, the Carbon T10 is a good tool to help achieve your weight loss goals.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill Review

In-depth Review of ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill

iFit

iFit is the subscription program featured on the Carbon T10. It comes automatically loaded when you purchase a subscription. iFit offers over 16,000 different workouts.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill iFit Class

Overall, we think iFit makes training on the Carbon T10 interactive.

Like other fitness platforms, iFit features trainer-led workouts with over 180 instructors. There are classes for running, walking, and hiking. iFit is featured on other workout equipment like exercise bikes, ellipticals, and rowers. There are mat classes for strength training, yoga, and meditation, too.

Overall, iFit is designed to be a complete training program that can replace your gym membership. On the Carbon T10, we love taking iFit’s indoor and outdoor classes. The indoor classes are filmed in professional studios with nice lighting. The outdoor classes are filmed all over the world on every continent. During each class, the instructor guides you through the workout or location (if it’s filmed outdoors).

The music available is a “radio-esque” feature that plays preselected playlists of songs in the background. These playlists are split into different genres that you can change throughout your workout. We wish iFit would add some classes with music incorporated into the workouts though.

On this model, there is no longer connectivity for your phone to play your own music through the speakers. This is unfortunate and we hope newer models will bring back this feature. However, you can connect a heart rate monitor and headphones through Bluetooth.

Manual Mode

If you choose not to subscribe to iFit, the Carbon T10 has a manual mode that is easy to use. A white track on a white screen logs your laps and your workout metrics are displayed along the top. Manual mode does not have any preset limits on time so you can run/walk or hike for as long as you would like (most iFit programs are 60 minutes or less).

There are also onboard workouts available to take without a subscription to iFit.

Console

The 10” full-color HD touchscreen is crisp and easy to see. ProForm has also increased the processing speed and user interface on the touchscreen. For a budget pick, this screen is sufficient. If you’re looking for a treadmill with a larger screen then you’ll most likely have to pay for a higher-end model.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill Console iFit Library

The touchscreen is front and center on the T10 console.

Just beneath the screen are 13 buttons for each incline level from 0-12. Beneath that are 12 buttons for speed.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill - iFit Library

These buttons make adjusting the treadmill quick and seamless.

The console features a small fan that sits below the speaker. It has multiple airflow settings, but it is weak and doesn’t provide enough of a breeze to really cool you off. You will most likely have to plug in your own fan in order to cool down.

Another nice feature is the device rack below the touch screen. This is simply just a ledge to place your phone/tablet on. This allows you to watch whatever you want, in case you don’t want to subscribe to iFit. Keep in mind that larger devices might cover the 10” screen that shows your workout metrics.

On either side of the console are holders for your water bottle or whatever small items you need nearby. This amount of storage should be plenty for most.

Overall, the console is easy to use and everything is well within reach.

Construction Quality & Durability

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill

We are impressed with all of the features that the ProForm Carbon T10 includes.

For an affordable lower-end model, the T10 is solid and capable of handling moderate use. It has a weight limit of 300 lbs which makes for a sturdy machine. We don’t recommend it for users over that weight limit, however.

Frame

The Carbon T10 is constructed on a steel frame with two steel stabilizers that extend up to the console. The side handles are plastic-covered and textured to provide a good grip. There aren’t any handles in front of you to grip though. If you have balance issues, you might want to look into an alternative model.

The grab bar under the end of the deck is also steel and provides a solid grip for folding the treadmill. It feels secure and is compact when folded up.

The folding mechanism is manual instead of hydraulic though. This means that when folded the deck locks into place with a pin-locking system and when that pin is pulled, the deck collapses. It is important to keep a hold of the deck when unfolding and to lower it yourself. This model doesn’t have the hydraulic assist that we’ve become accustomed to on comparable models. Instead of slowly lowering, the deck will crash to the floor if you aren’t careful. Please use caution when folding and unfolding the deck.

The pin lock is on the left side of the deck.

Motor

The Carbon T10 has a 2.75 Continuous Horsepower motor. Since the horsepower is continuous, the motor doesn’t need to pause in between adjustments to catch up. The ProForm Carbon T10 can both attain and maintain a set speed while inclining and declining the deck. In our testing, we found this motor to be best suited for brisk walking, light jogging, or quick intervals. It works fine for a steady, moderate pace as well. But we don’t recommend it for long-distance running or extended training or high speeds.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill - Sydney

The incline is slightly louder than the speed when adjusting, but it isn’t excessive. This treadmill should work well in most spaces.

The incline is slightly louder than the speed when adjusting, but it isn’t excessive. This treadmill should work well in most spaces.

Deck

The 55” long belt on the Carbon T10 is long enough for walking and some jogging. It may not be long enough for taller users or for those who plan to run long, fast speeds. This deck is a nice size if you’re looking for a compact option.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill - Full Deck

The 20” width should be plenty for most users for walking and jogging as well.

The ProShox cushioning under the deck facilitates a balanced toe-off while still providing needed impact absorption. The Carbon T10 deck is quiet and responsive with appreciable cushioning. I noticed that my ankles and legs didn’t feel discomfort like I get running on harder decks. For a budget option, this cushioning is nice.

Performance & Functionality

The Carbon T10 inclines to 12%, has a 12 mph max speed, includes both preloaded workouts and subscription content, and folds up when you are done. It is also relatively quiet when in use. It isn’t the quietest treadmill we’ve used, but it isn’t the loudest either. This treadmill is excellent for walking, jogging, or light running. It works especially well for smaller users of those who live in small spaces. All in all, these training options make the ProForm Carbon T10 an impressive little treadmill.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill - Deck Inclined

The 12% incline on the Carbon T10 is one of its best features.

Variability is a vital component in any training regimen — it helps prevent overuse injuries and ensure muscular balance. On the Carbon T10, you won’t get bored or run out of training options. You can run one long hill, rolling hills, hill intervals, downhill sprints, alternating speed/interval cycles, or any other combination. The 12% incline helps strengthen the glutes and hamstrings to offset quad dominance and facilitate muscular balance in the lower body.

We did notice that the deck has been updated to include a folding and hinging mechanism at the top of the deck. So when the treadmill is folded, the motor hood remains parallel to the floor. The hinge is also apparent when the treadmill is inclined, too. We didn’t notice any change in performance on the T10.

ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill - Folded Up

This design seems to actually make the treadmill more compact when it is folded.

Moving the Carbon T10 is pretty easy too. There are transportation wheels on the front of the treadmill so you can tilt the deck (when folded) to move it around.

Warranty:

The ProForm Carbon T10 comes with a 10-year frame warranty to back up the impressive construction. It also includes a 2-year parts warranty and a 1-year labor warranty. We recommend at least two people set up the Carbon T10. This helps make the assembly smoother.

Bottom Line Review: ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill

The Carbon T10 is compact, fairly quiet, sporty, and affordable. It also folds up when not in use. This particular treadmill is well-suited for those who live in apartments or other smaller spaces. The shock absorption in the deck makes for a comfortable workout. Plus, the 10” touch screen displays iFit with a subscription to give you access to over 16,000 workout classes. The T10 also adjusts on its own in every iFit class, too. With a generous incline/decline range, good speed options, optional iFit programming, and a compact, folding deck, the ProForm Carbon T10 is a great buy.
